Proving itself with the processors it has revealed in the smartphone market, Qualcomm has gradually started to show itself in computers. Qualcomm-signed processors, which have been found in some Samsung models in the past, may soon come up with more powerful options.

Qualcomm wants to be ambitious with its new Orion processors

After making a name for itself with the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 processor used in the Galaxy Book Go 2 5G, Qualcomm has once again increased its claim with a new Samsung model. The Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3, which is 60 percent more powerful than the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2, has taken its place in the new Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360. However, Qualcomm does not seem to stop at this point.

The US-based manufacturer is preparing to introduce more powerful laptop processor models in the near future. Sharing its future plans at the Snapdragon Summit event held last month, the company introduced the new Oryon brand for desktop and laptop computers.

After the introduction, information about Qualcomm’s new processors began to come. According to the allegations, the first of the processors prepared by the company for more powerful computers continues to be developed under the code name Hamoa. The processor, which is said to be 12 cores, will have 8 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores.

Qualcomm continues to test its new processors on two versions with model numbers SC8380X and SC8380XP. As can be seen from the model numbers, the new processors will be the successors of the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 chipset.

It would not be wrong to say that the new processors will have the CPU core design designed by Nuvia, which Qualcomm purchased in early 2021. In addition, it is also among the information that the new processors have a Snapdragon X65 5G modem that offers download speeds up to 10Gbps and UFS 4.0 storage.

The company’s new processors will be produced with TSMC’s 3 nm technology. In this way, processors that are expected to be more efficient and performance may disrupt the balance in the computer market. In this way, up to 20 hours of usage time can be obtained from laptop computers. We can say that Samsung, which has been working with Qualcomm for a long time, will be a pioneer in this regard. The South Korean manufacturer is expected to launch its computer with Orion processors in late 2023.

We are looking forward to Qualcomm’s new processors, which show how serious they are in the computer market after the smartphone market. So what do you think about the new computer processors of the US-based technology giant? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
