Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, TSMC, the world’s largest chip and semiconductor manufacturer, produces chips for almost all giant brands, from Samsung and Apple to Intel and NVIDIA. The company, which mainly works for Samsung and Apple products, called on the US earlier this year to “do not exclude US-based companies”.

According to some information revealed today, TSMC will start the production of new 3nm chips days before the new year.

We may see 3nm processors in new iPhones and Macbooks

According to information published by DigiTimes, TSMC will officially begin mass production of new 3nm chips on December 29, 2022. The company, which produced 3nm chips for test purposes in 2022, did not offer these chips for sale and announced that they produced it to test the performance of the production line.

In addition, according to the allegations, Apple, which uses TSMC’s 4nm chips in its A16 Bionic processors, may switch to 3nm chips in the A17 and M3 processors, which it will use in the new iPhone 15 and Mac / Macbook models, after TSMC’s mass production. Of course, in the same way, we can see that companies such as Intel, AMD and NVIDIA in 2023 use 3nm chips produced by TSMC. In the past years, we have seen that these companies have made a rapid transition to the chips produced by TSMC. This transition seems to continue in 2023 as well.

In the previous statements made by TSMC, it was claimed that 3nm processors would be 10-15% more efficient and would provide 20-25% energy efficiency.
