Web browser and search engine DuckDuckGo, which stands out with its emphasis on privacy and security, announced that it will now automatically close “Sign in with Google” pop-ups or dialog boxes. According to the company statement, users using the updated DuckDuckGo app and Firefox, Chrome, Brave and Edge extensions will “no longer see these annoying and misleading windows and will enjoy more privacy.”
DuckDuckGo also underlined that this is not just about closing annoying popups. In a press release, he said that linking your Google account to the browser history allows Google to track users unnoticed.
DuckDuckGo says Google may use this information to allow companies to show more relevant and targeted ads. The DuckDuckGo update, which turns off Google login windows, is now available.
