Meteor Lake desktop processors may be canceled
To recall, we’ve heard a lot of rumors that Intel may be canceling its Meteor Lake desktop plans. Now OneRaichu states that Meteor Lake-S processors may not come out for the desktop platform and will instead have a presence in the mobile market. While it is unknown why Intel will make such a decision, we may see a similar move to AMD’s Ryzen 7000 X3D refresh in the future.
In the light of this information, Intel seems to update the existing Raptor Lake processors with higher core speeds and better power distribution from 2023. We can say that this situation will give the company an advantage against one of the biggest disadvantages of Ryzen 7000 processors. Because the new generation AMD processors need new AM5 socket motherboards and DDR5 memory.
Also, new rumors suggest that Intel will offer support for at least three generations of architecture with the next LGA 1851 socket. Since Meteor Lake-S will be disabled, these will likely be Arrow Lake-S, Arrow Lake renewal and Panther Lake. According to previous leaks, the Meteor Lake-S architecture is expected to come in Core i7 and Core i9 variants only.
