Active WhatsApp users are no stranger to moments when the “Delete for Me” button is accidentally tapped instead of the “Delete for Everyone” option. The new feature allows you to undo this operation, which is extremely critical depending on the situation you are in.

You have 5 seconds to delete your message from everyone

Accidental deletion began testing among a small number of users who joined the beta program in August 2022. It is now available to all WhatsApp users. When the user accidentally deletes a message just “for himself”, he will see a notification for 5 seconds with an “Undo” button. During these 5 seconds, he will also be able to undo the message and then delete it for everyone.

Note that WhatsApp does not offer an option to undelete a message you have deleted from all chat participants, not just yourself. Finally, let’s mention that the update containing the new feature is in the distribution phase and will soon be available for both private and group chats.
