According to new information, Apple has started working on a 20-inch foldable MacBook with a screen. The company will use a 20.25-inch OLED display, which will be manufactured by a South Korean supplier. While there are multiple South Korean display suppliers, you cannot ignore Samsung here, given Samsung’s expertise in making foldable devices and displays. Probably Apple will again make a deal with Samsung.

It was previously reported that Apple plans to launch top versions of the MacBook and iPad in a foldable form factor in 2027. Since foldable devices require the use of OLED panels, Apple may continue with the already well-known Samsung Display in this genre.

It is also noted that the screen of Apple’s new MacBook will be 20.25 inches, but will be 15.3 inches when folded. This screen is larger than the largest iPad Pro available, but smaller than the 16-inch MacBook Pro.

There is no official information yet about whether the company that will supply screens to Apple is Samsung. It is speculated that Apple will be cautious about launching the foldable MacBook and probably not until they switch both the MacBook and iPad to OLED displays. Currently, only high-end iPhone and Apple Watch models have OLED displays, while other Apple products use LCD or Mini-LED panels.

However, that will soon change as Apple plans to launch 2 iPad models with OLED displays in 2024. OLED displays for the iPad in question will be supplied by LG and Samsung. Therefore, besides Samsung, Apple may also turn to LG Display for the OLED panel of the foldable MacBook project.

Also, another piece of news is that Apple wants to replace the iPad Mini with a 10-inch foldable device. Time will tell which of these information is correct, but you can share your thoughts on this development with us below.
