What does the Intel i9-13900KS offer against the base model?
Reportedly, the Core i9-13900KS will use a 24-core and 32-thread configuration of 8 performance/16 efficiency cores, similar to the base model i9-13900K. Therefore, the performance boost of the Core i9-13900KS will come from fully improved clock speeds. The base model will reach 5.8 GHz with Intel’s Thermal Velocity Boost (TVB) technology, while the Core i9-13900KS will increase to 6 GHz.
As for the shared Geekbench results, the Core i9-13900KS offers 4.1 percent higher performance than the Core i9-13900K, 11 percent higher than the Core i9-12900K and 16 percent higher than the Core i9-13900K in a single core. In addition, the new top model manages to surpass AMD’s current flagship Ryzen 9 7950X by 5.8 percent.
Processor | Single Core Score | Multi-Core Score |
---|---|---|
Core i9-13900KS | 2.319 | 26,774 |
Core i9-13900K | 2.227 | 24,311 |
Ryzen 9 7950X | 2,192 | 22,963 |
Core i9-12900KS | 2.081 | 19,075 |
Core i9-12900K | 1.988 | 17,324 |
We can say that Intel Core i9-13900KS, which is 10 percent ahead of Core i9-13900K in multi-core, outperforms Core i9-12900KS by 40.4 percent and Core i9-12900K by 54.5 percent. In AMD Ryzen 7950X, the difference is widened up to 16.6 percent.
Although the new results are successful, we can say that AMD will respond to Intel with the Ryzen 7000X3D processors that will be released in 2023. For this reason, great changes can occur in competition. The Intel Core i9-13900KS is expected to be officially announced at CES 2023 and launch in the first quarter of the new year.
