Negative news between Elon Musk, Twitter and the employee triangle doesn’t seem to be stopping. Another Twitter storm has erupted over the company’s decision to put beds, nightstands and comfy couches at its San Francisco headquarters.

According to Forbes, Musk has turned parts of Twitter’s corporate offices into beds for “aspirational” employees. Musk is allegedly embarking on such a feat to show his support for staff who are so committed to their jobs that they are willing to sleep in.

Beds for “passionate” workers

Forbes said “sources familiar with the situation” said the 4 to 8 bedrooms on each floor “looked nice”, but the situation appears to be under investigation by local authorities. According to a tweet from Ted Goldberg, a senior editor at San Francisco’s public radio station KQED, the San Francisco Building Control Department is now investigating reports of the Twitter redesign. “We need to make sure the building is used as intended,” a spokesperson for the San Francisco Building Inspection Department told KQED, according to Golberg.

According to the Washington Post, in an email, department spokesman Patrick Hannan said, “There are different building code requirements for residential buildings, including those used for short stays. These codes allow people to use spaces safely.” He also said that “no one [not even Elon Musk] is above the law.”

Musk, on the other hand, defends this stance of Twitter. Musk tweeted, tagging San Francisco Mayor London Breed, “Where are your priorities?” she asked. While talking about the effects of the drug fentanyl in his post, Musk stated that he found it meaningless to attack companies that provide beds for tired employees.
