The Sun, which was displayed while ‘smiling’ last month, was observed with a completely different face this time. In the photo shared by NASA, the Sun was displayed this time with a slightly sullen, slightly angry face.
The new observation was made by the Solar Dynamics Observatory spacecraft, launched in 2010 and focused on observing the Sun. The spacecraft has been serving as an observatory since the moment it landed at the observation position.

The black areas that make up the angry face in the photo above were actually structures described as ‘coronal holes’. These structures are formed by the scattering of the Sun’s magnetic field into space. Solar winds are moving twice as fast in these regions as normal.
