Microsoft’s new operating system, Windows 11, has attracted reactions due to the errors it caused to its users in the last few updates. After the update that ruined the gaming pleasure of NVIDIA graphics card users in the past months, the new update that came last week also caused some games to run at 25 FPS.

Today, researchers discovered a new vulnerability in Windows 11. Thanks to this vulnerability, hackers can access all the information on your computer, bypassing all the security measures of Windows.

It all starts with a ZIP file

According to the researchers’ statement, hackers exploiting this vulnerability often send victims a phishing e-mail, which includes a ZIP file. In addition to the file you need, there is also a hidden ISO file inside the ZIP file. As soon as you extract the file, this ISO file automatically connects itself to the system and runs the JavaScript file inside. After this process, your computer is hacked without your knowledge.

In Windows 10 and 11, ISO files are marked as “read only” files, so Firewall and antivirus are not scanning these files. In addition, since ISO files can be opened without the need for any additional programs in Windows 10 and 11, hackers can easily infect computers by using this vulnerability. After the prepared virus bypasses the firewall, it hides itself from the antivirus software and starts to send the data on the computer to the other party one by one.

Microsoft officials announced that they have known about this vulnerability since the beginning of October and have started working to fix it. At this point, if you are illegally downloading software or games from the internet, we strongly recommend that you be more careful and think twice before opening the ZIP files in the e-mails you receive.
