The United Nations (UN) Department of Economic and Social Affairs published a special report on the same day, dedicated to the World Population Day, on July 11th. The report revealed what levels the world population will rise to in the coming years, and hosted a big target expected for this year as well.

According to the report, in the very near future, China, the world’s most populated country, would lose its title. However, it was predicted that India with a population of 1 billion 412 million would surpass China with a population of 1 billion 426 million in 2023. By 2050, the population of India will be 1 billion 668 million, and the population of China will be 1 billion 317 million.

The most prominent statement of the report was about our near future. The UN announced on 11 July that the world population will reach 8 billion by 15 November.
