EGM examined 25 accounts on social media
After the incident on Istiklal Street, BTK took action and stated that band narrowing was implemented for social media platforms across the country. In the first study conducted by the General Directorate of Security (EGM), misleading posts on social media were examined.
Within the scope of the operation carried out by the Anti-Cyber Crime Department, it was decided to examine 25 accounts. According to the EGM’s statement, these accounts are; He shared provocative content that openly incited the people to hatred, hatred and enmity.
While 6 people died in the explosion in Taksim, 53 people were seriously and lightly injured. Stating that the Anti-Cyber Crime Department monitors social media 24/7, EGM’s statement included the following statements:
In this context, 25 account managers were identified and sent to the relevant authorities, who were considered to have shared provocative posts on social media platforms regarding the ‘explosion’, with the aim of creating fear and panic among our citizens, and openly inciting hatred, hatred and enmity.

Before EGM’s announcement, it should be noted that BTK has imposed bandwidth restrictions for social media. It is unclear how long this restriction will last, which was implemented in order to prevent posts that will incite the people to hatred, hatred and enmity after the incident.
