Beyoğlu Istiklal Street in Taksim, one of the popular spots of Istanbul, which also hosts many tourists, echoed with explosion sounds today. It was stated that after the explosion that took place in building number 190, a few minutes away from the entrance of the street on the Taksim side, there were injured people, and that many police, firefighters and medical teams were sent to the area.
According to the governor’s statement, there are dead and injured as a result of the explosion. The unpleasant incident has become the number one issue on the agenda of social media. In case of a second explosion, the police evacuated the area and surrounded it. The cause of the explosion is currently unknown.
