The world-famous Time magazine has announced its list of the best inventions of 2022. The prestigious broadcaster awarded the Nothing Phone (1), released by the company of OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, in the category of “innovative smartphone design”.As Time points out, Carl Pei knew it would take a smartphone no one had seen before to compete with Google and Apple. As a matter of fact, it did. The company released a phone with a transparent design and a special lighting / notification system.

Pei’s company unveiled the Nothing Phone (1) in July of this year, after raising over $200 million. The transparent back panel of the device, which resembles the iPhone in design, contains more than 900 LEDs. This part, called the “glyph interface” by the brand, creates light patterns based on music, notification and vibration.
Powered by the Snapdragon 778G+ processor, the smartphone was launched in Europe with prices starting from 469 euros. Other key features of Nothing Phone (1) can be listed as 6.55 inch AMOLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate, 4,500 mAh battery with 33W fast charging support and 50 megapixel main camera.
