Recently, there has been a great competition in the game console market. In addition to Xbox and PlayStation models, Nintendo has also achieved significant success with its new generation game consoles. While the Japanese company prioritizes the user experience in its new game consoles, it does not forget the environmental factors.

Nintendo considers environmental factors in production

Wanting to take important steps in environmental pollution, Nintendo shared their plans to reduce the environmental impact of the Switch family. The data were shared with presentation materials used during a briefing on the company’s financial results.

Nintendo said in a statement that it is aware of environmental concerns in its products and offices. The company states that they are taking action to design a more efficient product regarding the Switch. Nintendo states that, according to its tests, the first models used about 12 watts, while this value dropped to 7 watts in the current model.

The OLED screen model of the Switch, on the other hand, manages to fall even lower than this value. The game console, which uses only 6 watts of energy, draws attention with its 50 percent more efficient structure compared to the first model.

Nintendo also stated that it has taken steps to conserve resources and reduce carbon dioxide emissions during the manufacture and shipping of Switch units. The company, which aims to expand the use of renewable energies and use resources efficiently, states that they will take more initiatives in this regard.

The Japanese game company also plans to reduce the number of shipments significantly by shrinking the packaging. According to the information received, the new OLED screen Switch has a 14 percent smaller package than previous models. The company announced that they will go down in packaging in other models as well.

The company’s presentation is shared publicly on Nintendo’s website. Details of Nintendo’s environmental initiatives can be found on page 51 of the PDF. So what do you think of Nintendo and the company’s environmental breakthroughs? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
