SpaceX’s huge rocket Falcon Heavy, which has achieved a great success in the history of space and includes three Falcon 9 rockets, was launched for the fourth time today. Moreover, this launch was the first since June 25, 2019.

The mission that led to Falcon Heavy’s return to space three years later was the ‘secret’ mission named ‘USSF-44’ by the US Space Force. However, details about the mission were not made public.

Those moments when Falcon Heavy launches three years later and its rockets return:

  • Launch moment: 19 minutes
  • Moments when the rockets returned to Earth: 26th minute

SpaceX has yet to release the return of the third rocket to Earth. The third rocket leaves the fuselage after the side rockets.

Details about the Falcon Heavy rocket:

The 70-meter-long Falcon Heavy rocket, which SpaceX launched for the first time on February 6, 2018, includes three Falcon 9 rocket cores. In the upper part of the rocket, there is a cargo compartment that carries Musk’s Tesla Roadster in the first launch. All three Falcon 9 rockets on the rocket descend back to Earth after launch.

Although Falcon Heavy served with a low cargo capacity in its first missions, it set a new record with the USSF-44 mission. According to the shared details, the rocket carried two secret cargoes and a total of 63 tons of 800 kilograms with itself into space.

What is the USSF-44 mission?

Details shared about the USSF-44 mission are extremely limited. According to the information shared by the USA, the two cargoes carried into space consist of an unnamed satellite and a microsatellite called TETRA-1. These satellites, sent by the US military, will undertake system tests for future satellites.
