Samsung, which was the absolute dominion of the smartphone market years ago and did not go below 300 million sales, has not been able to exceed 300 million since 2017. Especially in the quarters whose sales hit the bottom in 2020, Samsung now wants to focus on margin.

Samsung is changing strategy

Particularly, the high acceptance of foldable smartphones by the consumer and the high price tags that led to the increase in the profit margin caused Samsung to change its general strategy.

While the company expects to sell 260 million smartphones in 2022, this figure will reach 270 million in 2023. So only an increase of 10 million is achieved. Of this figure, 60 million will consist of premium and foldable devices, while 210 million will consist of low-end phones. Foldable devices are expected to increase by 80 percent in 2024.

Rather than breaking the number record, the company will now try to increase its revenues by giving more weight to premium phones. Because, it has become more important to keep the income line during the global economic crisis. Especially at a time when foldable devices are not yet fully competitive, the company wants to make the most of it.
