YouTube introduced a new viewing mode with its update: Ambience mode. This mod looks like a darker version of the dark theme and includes a few changes to the action buttons like subscribe and like buttons in the video player on different devices and systems.
In ambient mode, the background of the YouTube app matches the content being played; we can see some background colors of the video in the phone’s status bar and video title bar. However, you need to do this in a dark environment.
YouTube is also rolling out an even darker version of its dark mode, expanding the dark theme and making it available on TVs, mobiles, and the web. Also, playlists on YouTube display more details of videos to help users navigate content.
YouTube says it’s working to improve the video player, for example turning links in video descriptions into buttons and minimizing distractions caused by frequent action buttons like share, like and download buttons.
Users now also have the option to zoom in and out within the video while watching videos. This feature is available on both Android and iOS.
These new features have been gradually rolled out to all users’ devices as of today.
