Previously, WhatsApp allowed users to hide their “last seen online” status, but we could see it when the user was online. Now, WhatsApp is introducing a feature where users can choose who can see and not see their online status.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently claimed that WhatsApp provides greater privacy for messages through end-to-end encryption. Today, WhatsApp has added another layer of privacy that gives users the control to protect their online status from unwanted trackers. Rumors about this feature started in July, and four months later, WhatsApp proved them to be true.
Users can hide their online status from selected contacts by clicking Settings > Privacy > Last Seen & Online. They can then select any of the four options: Everyone, My Contacts, My contacts except and Nobody, and the same preferences for their online status.
