A new feature that Instagram is testing allows users to add songs to their profiles. Known for his leaks, Alessandro Paluzzi hinted at this new feature on Twitter, and users immediately started comparing Instagram to MySpace. However, Meta spokesperson Christine Pai said that the feature is an internal prototype and is not yet considered to be rolled out.

Known for uncovering app updates through reverse engineering, Paluzzi also tweeted screenshots about the potential feature and how it would work. According to the developer, the song will appear at the bottom of the Instagram bio section. Using a Rick Astley tune as an example, Paluzzi showed where the song was displayed, noting that you can’t play music right now, but that may change in the future.

In the early 2000s, MySpace allowed users to choose a background song for their profile. While Instagram has not made this feature available to the public, the social media platform introduced music for Instagram Stories in 2018. You can choose from thousands of songs or add music from an external application like Spotify.
