AirPods Pro 2 not working properly on Google Pixel phones

AirPods Pro 2nd generation was introduced in September along with the iPhone 14 series. AirPods Pro is one of the in-ear headphones that attracts the attention of Android phone users as well as iPhone users. So much so that AirPods Pro work on Android? We come across the question frequently. Unlike most Apple products, AirPods generally work well on Android phones. However, the situation changes if you have a Google Pixel phone and especially if you are using the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7.

Connection problem on Pixel phones

Regarding A2DP hardware offload, AirPods Pro 2 does not work properly on Google Pixel phones. After about 90 seconds after the sound starts playing, the sound decreases and then it stops completely. When the sound stops, AirPods do not disconnect but stop the video or music. To get it to ring again, you need to disconnect and reconnect the AirPods.

There is a workaround

There are a lot of Google Pixel users experiencing this problem. AirPods Pro 2nd generation models with connection problems include Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 6a and Pixel 6 Pro. Fortunately, there is something users can do without waiting for an update to be released. This issue can be fixed by selecting “Disable Bluetooth A2DP hardware offload” in developer options. However, turning this option off reduces the headphone sound quality.

The AirPods Pro 2 update process can only be performed through an Apple product, as is known. If this is a Pixel issue, hopefully a software update will come from Google. Until then, the only way AirPods Pro 2 will work on Pixel phone; Turning off Bluetooth A2DP.
