Netflix, the world’s most popular online series and movie platform, announced that it has launched a new feature. This feature, called “Profile Transfer”, seems to be of great importance for users. Let’s take a closer look at Netflix’s new feature together.
Netflix is one of the platforms where several users come together and buy memberships. In fact, according to Netflix, at least 100 million households use joint accounts. This feature, called Profile Transfer, is exactly about these common uses.
With Profile Transfer, all information in a profile will be transferred to a new account!
According to Netflix’s statement, thanks to the Profile Transfer feature, a user will not have to create a profile from scratch when they open a new Netflix account. Because the profile in a previously used account will be transferred to the new account with all its information. In this way, users will continue their Netflix experience when they switch to a new account.
So why did Netflix need to offer users a feature like ‘Profile Transfer’?
Netflix has been trying to prevent password sharing for a while. The issue, which was first raised in 2021, was also tested a few months ago. However, no concrete steps have been taken in this regard yet.
Bringing the Profile Transfer feature of Netflix allows people who use Netflix from their relatives’ accounts to open their own accounts and move their profiles. Therefore, it can be said that the new feature is the harbinger of the password sharing ban.
