First of all, it should be said that Apple places high demands on all of its suppliers, and therefore, to enter the supply chain, companies must prove that their products are of the highest quality. In 2012, Apple’s supplier list consisted of 156 companies, of which only 8 were Chinese. By 2020, the total number of suppliers reached 200, of which 96 were Chinese manufacturers.
Almost half of iPhone 14 suppliers are Chinese
About half of Apple’s component suppliers today are from the Middle Kingdom. Major Chinese suppliers include Luxshare Precision and Goertek, which make connectors and speakers for Apple. The iPhone 14 also uses glass plate made in China, BOE display panels from Lens Technology, flash memory from Western Digital, Toshiba and Yangtze River Storage.
According to US media reports, components made in China account for 25% of the total production cost of the iPhone 14.
