TSMC shines
In the third quarter of the year, TSMC generated a total of $ 20 billion in revenue and experienced a 48 percent year-on-year increase. Operating profit rose 79.7 percent, reaching $8.8 billion. It is stated that the company has achieved great income especially in the 5nm and 7nm processes.
High-performance computer and smartphone chips account for around 80 percent of revenues. Internet of Things and Automotive are much lower. In other words, large-scale production in competition can be said to be in the hands of TSMC. For small-scale production, there still seems to be room for competition.
Contrary to the claims, TSMC did not raise capital. It reduced this year’s capital by $4 billion to $36 billion. It is stated that the company plans to suspend some of its investments due to falling demands.
