Spotify HiFi was announced in February 2021, and we’ve heard very little about it in the meantime. But now it looks like the release of a higher quality membership level called Platinum is imminent.
Someone who canceled a Spotify subscription contacted 9to5Mac, saying that the email inviting him to resubscribe mentioned a Spotify Platinum plan for $19.99 a month (twice the standard price). This Platinum plan also mentioned Spotify HiFi.
Apart from e-mail, high-resolution audio, we don’t know exactly what they are, but Studio Sound, Headphone Tuner, Audio Insights, Library Pro, Playlist Pro It also refers to features such as (Playlist Pro) and Limited-ad (Limited Ads) Spotify podcasts.
It is also stated in this email that it is suggested that subscription tiers will be available within the next 30 days and Spotify HiFi will be available within a month, possibly within the Platinum tier.
Apple Music already includes Lossless audio and Spatial Audio as part of the standard subscription. So we’d say it’s possible that Spotify thinks they need to offer more to justify a massive price hike.
If the information in the resubscribe email is correct, it looks like we won’t have to wait too long…
