Many automobile giants now prefer to use large infotainment screens inside their vehicles. Many functions can be performed on these screens. In fact, automobile giant Tesla even allows users to play games through the multimedia screen inside the vehicles.
Now it turns out that another manufacturer will integrate this feature into their cars. German automobile giant BMW has announced that games can be played on the curved infotainment screen that we see in many of its new models.
Games will begin arriving on vehicles in 2023
In its statements, the company stated that it will add Airconsole, the gaming platform developed by Switzerland-based N-Dream, which can be used on devices such as Android TV and PC, to the iDrive 8 system in its vehicles. Thus, users will be able to play games while their vehicles are charging or waiting for something else in the car.
BMW says it thinks the Aiconsole is a good match for its curved display, which we’ve seen on models like the iX. Although there are not many details about the new feature yet, it is stated that the games can be played on the screen in the vehicle and smartphones can be used as a control device.
It is not known at the moment which games users can play. However, when Airconsole’s site is examined, it is seen that the platform has more than 180 games, including racing games like Mario Kart.
While it is stated that the feature, whose price and other details are expected to be announced in the coming months, will begin to arrive as of 2023, it is currently unclear which vehicles it will be brought to. However, a BMW spokesperson told Autoblog that we will see this technology first in the new 7 Series: “AirConsole games will be available to models in the 7 Series first and then to other models.”
