Playing games is a passion for some and just a fun activity for others. Today, we can find thousands of games on our PlayStation, Xbox and computers. However, this was not the case once. We had arcades where we could play a number of games.

We are sure that many of you remember the arcades, which we can call the ancestors of PlayStation and Xbox. We are even sure that many people have met the game world for the first time thanks to arcade. We have compiled for you some of the first games we played in arcades that drew us all into the game world.

The game that turned us all into circus acrobats: Circus.

Circus, which was first released in 1984, almost imprisoned us all in the game with its iconic music. We would get angry as our souls decreased, but at the same time, we would continue to play by leaving ourselves to the rhythm of the music.

While we were doing tightrope walking, we did not realize how the time passed by getting lost in the game while we were trying to jump from one ball to another ball.

If Rafael Nadal saw our tennis performance, his eyes would fill with tears…

The game, which debuted in 1983, had a very simple interface like almost all arcade games. There were 5 difficulty levels in Tennis. Even though most of us struggled at levels 4 and 5, we wouldn’t stop trying.

Thanks to our tennis skills, which we developed as we played the game, we all felt like Rafael Nadal or Maria Sharapova.

Of course, we haven’t forgotten Super Mario, one of the first games that comes to mind when Atari is mentioned.

Yes, undoubtedly the most loved and most played arcade game is Super Mario. Since 1983, Super Mario has been offering us things that we cannot find in many games nowadays. There was love, friendship, fear, whatever you might call in the game.

We all felt a bit of sadness when we realized that we were going to defeat the monster and save the princess. When we rescued the princess and brought her to our castle, we were proud as if all our efforts had paid off.

Did the producers of the King Kong movie also play Donkey Kong in their time?

Climbing the stairs and reaching the upper floor has never been more difficult and fun. Although our gorilla friend in the Donkey Kong game sometimes tried to scare us by rolling barrels at us, we always managed to get over the obstacles and reach the princess on the top floor.

Again, we could see the Mario of Super Mario, one of the legendary games of that period, in this game. The biggest reason for this was that Mario was seen for the first time in this game. Of course, since Donkey Kong is not as famous as Super Mario, many of us thought the opposite was the case.

Tekken was the home of true fighters.

Tekken, which entered the lives of many of us with an arcade, is one of the rare games that continues to be played in series today. We had a lot of fun playing arcade games with our family members and friends.

When we were talking about mutually chosen characters and skill wars, we wouldn’t understand how the time passed. Tekken had rivals back then, though not as much as it does today.

Still a legend: Street Fighter

One of the main games that we can count among Tekken’s rivals was Street Fighter. Although a new PC game has been released in recent years, Street Fighter has been overshadowed by many fighting games.

With the truck driving effect that scratches our brain: TANK

Perhaps the best part of the game was that it had all sorts of upgrades. Some were able to destroy all enemy tanks and end the game, while others could create a protective shield around us.

Of course, it was not uncommon for us to focus too much on these upgrades and destroying enemies and forget the symbol we needed to protect. Indeed, just like us, our enemies also had a purpose.

Those days when we had an arcade argument with our parents because of Tetris…

The arcades appealed to people of all ages. One of our parents’ favorite games was undoubtedly Tetris. The game has been played so much and loved so much that many similar games are still being developed today.

The game, which was developed in 1984, which is similar to other arcade games, continues to maintain its nostalgic atmosphere in all series since the day it was released.

We didn’t learn marksmanship in PUBG.

Duck Hunt, the ‘duck shooter’ game, which has taken its place among the first games that come to mind when it comes to Atari, surprised us at that time. Many of us couldn’t believe how we shot ducks when we fired with the gun in our hands, we used to think how much technology has advanced.

When we spent all of our shooting rights and couldn’t hit the ducks, the dog we saw from the beginning of the game would show up again and laugh at us sarcastically. When we encountered the dog’s smile a few times, we were almost alienated from life.

We couldn’t find the action in Contra in any movie.

Those who like action movies may have played Contra quite a bit for a while. Because the game made us feel like we were in an action movie. Enemies coming towards you, obstacles that you have to jump and jump, automatic fire weapons and flames… There was nothing.

Of course, it is not possible to compare it with today’s shooter or action games. However, Contra, where we were able to defeat every monster with a single weapon, will always have a different place for us.

Mortal Kombat is still one of the most loved fighting games.

We met Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Sonya, Kanyo and many other characters for the first time at the arcade. Now, we all know the legendary Mortal Kombat characters and even their stories.

A lot has changed in the game since the days we played in Atari. Many of the characters we saw in the past are not included in the last games of the series. On the other hand, many movies of the series were shot and we had the opportunity to watch different characters in these movies. With all this, Mortal Kombat managed to make its name known to the whole world.

Our little red car and Forza Horizon’s (?) nature images…

Before there was Forza Horizon, Need for Speed, and more, there was Road Fighter. Maybe we couldn’t modify our car in the game we played with a bird’s eye view, but we were having a lot of fun.

Thanks to the changing environment views as we progressed in the game, different worlds were going and we were experiencing the racing feeling to the fullest. The game, which was developed by Konami in the same way as Contra, managed to write its name in history as the first racing game of the company.

The days when we dropped the bomb and ran without looking back…

No doubt Bomberman taught us the importance of timing. From time to time, we detonated ourselves with the bombs we set up, but as a result, we somehow found the exit door.

Of course, it wasn’t easy to break all the stones and find the door when there were a lot of monsters walking around. However, Bomberman was still one of the most entertaining arcade games.

The game that turned us all into Tarzan: Adventure Island.

Adventure Island, where we ran around like Tarzan with our little feet, was quite reminiscent of Super Mario in terms of gameplay. Many of us would come to this perilous island to take our victory lap after saving the princess in Super Mario for this very reason.

One of the biggest features that made the game popular was that the eggs that we found on the way and opened by kicking them gave all kinds of gifts. The most fun of these gifts was undoubtedly skateboarding. Although it may seem simple to us now, it was very nice for our character to have such abilities in the games at that time.

We used to do parkour sport on Excite Bike at the time.

Again, something we are not used to seeing in arcade games was riding a motorcycle. Because in many games we were either driving, fighting or running around for a purpose.

Excite Bike, which moved away from a classic racing game in this sense, offered us a different experience. The game was very popular at that time and became one of the most played arcade games. But now many of us have trouble remembering even his name.

Today, gamers can access countless games from their computers or consoles. Most of those who were children in the 90s and 2000s grew up with arcade games. Today, we went back to our childhood by taking a little journey with you. So what was your favorite arcade game?
