YouTube, the world’s most popular online video platform, announced a new feature coming to the platform. According to the official statement made by the company, the “@user-name” pattern, which is used as a broadcast on platforms such as Instagram or TikTok, will also appear on YouTube in the future. The platform has named this pattern “descriptor”. Let’s take a closer look at this feature together.

The reason for introducing this feature, which is available on many platforms, up to YouTube, is to increase the interaction of users with each other. Because, thanks to the promoters on YouTube, users will be able to tag each other more easily. In addition, since each promoter will be specific to a channel, fake accounts will also be exposed more easily. Let’s also say that usernames will be unique.

This is what YouTube’s introductory feature will look like

According to YouTube’s description, promoters can be added to the description section of shared videos and shorts. In addition, a user can be tagged as a comment under any video, just like on Instagram or TikTok. The promoters will also appear in the area where shorts videos are watched on mobile devices.

According to YouTube’s statement, the distribution of the promoters feature has begun. In this context; If a user has created a unique URL for their YouTube channel, their identifier will be the phrase in that unique URL. However, if this is not the case, any desired phrase can be assigned as the identifier.
