Before its release, the last film in the James Bond franchise, ‘No Time to Die’ was estimated to gross between $60 and $70 million in its first three days. Although it wasn’t a disaster, the critically acclaimed movie was expected to attract a lot of attention as it was the last movie in which Daniel Craig will play the legendary character Bond; but it seems that the account in the house did not fit the market.

No Time to Die opened with $56 million at the domestic box office, slightly below expectations.

The movie has not yet been released in China

Considering the impact of the ongoing pandemic, now is not the right time to evaluate the first box office results. In fact, considering the virus crisis, the $56 million weekend opening revenue could be a great opening for some movies; but that’s not true of a No Time to Die-wide movie. When you add the cost of delaying the movie to the huge budget of $ 250 million and marketing expenditure of more than $ 100 million, the reason for the disappointment becomes very clear. Box office experts think No Time to Die should gross at least $800 million at the global box office to make up for the money spent on its production.

Not Time to Die, which was welcomed with great interest by the audience abroad, has already earned an impressive $145 million at the international box office. The latest 007 adventure, in which Cary Joji Fukunaga, the director of the legendary TV series True Detective, sat in the director’s chair, has been released in almost all major markets outside of China. The movie, which has now grossed $313 million worldwide, is expected to increase further when it is released in China on October 29.

Bond is at number one at the box office

There may be many different reasons behind Bond’s failure to achieve what was expected at the domestic box office; but undoubtedly two of the most obvious are the hesitancy of older viewers to return to movie theaters, and the film’s long run of 2 hours and 45 minutes. In addition to these, the great interest in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, the second sequel of the Venom movie adapted by Sony from the comic book to the big screen, may have overshadowed Bond. However, with the arrival of Bond and placing first in the domestic box office, Venom has fallen to second place. Venom, which earned $141 million in North America, has earned $185 million worldwide.

At the box office, ‘Adams Family 2’ with $10 million this week, ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ with 4.2 million and one of the best series ever made with $1.4 million, respectively. ‘The Many Saints of Newark’ follows the prequels of the Sopranos.
