The technology tension between the USA and China seems to increase even more. According to reports in The New York Times, the US government is preparing to impose new trade restrictions on advanced computing technologies that can be used by the Chinese military.
It could hit supercomputers and data centers
As it is known, the USA added Huawei to the blacklist in 2019 and imposed restrictions on the trade of technologies developed by the USA. The new rules to be implemented are expected to be added to the already ongoing decision, while technology sales to Chinese companies, government research laboratories and other organizations will be prevented.
Introducing the stealth bomber that the USA kept secret
While the details of the new decision are not yet known, the measures could affect not only the government but also academic institutions and internet companies such as Alibaba and Tencent. Because the USA is at the top of the Top500 supercomputer lists, while China continues to lead in the number of systems. The entry into force of the new rules could deal a major blow to China’s ability to build supercomputers and data centers.
