McDonald’s announced the launch of its Bitcoin (BTC) payment service in Lunago, Switzerland.

Cryptocurrencies have started to be more accepted as a means of payment by both those who are new to crypto payments and various venues. The global fast food chain McDonalds, which has been planning an NFT exhibition in the past weeks, has also taken its place among the initiators of the crypto payment service.

McDonald’s Launches Bitcoin Payment Service in Switzerland

McDonald’s, one of the world’s largest fast food chains, has started to accept payments made with Bitcoin (BTC).

McDonald’s has now included BTC in its digital food ordering, mobile app payment services. The company launched its first step in Lunago, Switzerland, where crypto adoption is high in Western Europe.

In March 2022, the city of Lugano announced that it would accept Bitcoin, Tether and LVGA tokens as legal tender. Following this adoption, the food industry, along with McDonald’s, was included in services such as parking payments, public and education, where cryptocurrencies can be used.

More than 200 shops and businesses in the city of Lunago, with a population of 63,000, are expected to accept crypto payments.
