Hackers began to retweet many Tweets about XRP from the famous musician’s Twitter account, which has more than 162 thousand followers. After that, it turned out that the account was hacked.
Spanish musician’s Twitter account hacked
For a while, XRP scammers had started the fraud by making transactions through a fake XRP account circulating on Twitter. They started sending spam replies to accounts hacked with scam links on Twitter accounts of crypto community members they created.
Finally, hackers who hacked the Twitter account of Spanish musician Bertín Osborne, thus using one of the most popular verified Twitter accounts they have ever been able to hack into their scams.
The official account of Oman’s Indian embassy was hacked last month for a similar scam. Then, the Twitter account of Venezuelan accounting firm PricewatherhouseCoopers was involved in a similar incident. In fact, the account of CoinDCX, one of the Indian cryptocurrency exchanges, was also involved in a similar incident.
In recent weeks, the goal of scammers has been to collect assets from users by retweeting Tweets from verified accounts impersonating Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson.
