The long-awaited launch of NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) platform has been officially delayed to mid-November. The latest plan was to launch on September 27, but this had to be delayed due to Storm Ian.
Although there was a possibility that a launch might first occur in October, NASA moved the entire rocket back to the sheltered Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) as the storm approached.
Storm Ian, which caused rainfall in Florida as a Category 4 storm, did not cause any damage to the Artemis flight equipment, according to NASA’s statement. Minor water intrusions occurred in and around the launch facility.
With the NASA Artemis 1 launch, the Orion capsule will be sent to lunar orbit unmanned. With the Artemis project to be initiated by this mission, humanity will go to the Moon again, this time permanently.
