At its AI Day 2022 event, Tesla revealed some key statistics and information about its Full Self Driving (FSD) technology, which is currently still in beta testing. In the announced data, it was noted that the number of users of FSD Beta grew very quickly, and a date was given for the global use.

Tesla stated that while FSD Beta users were around 2,000 in the past 2021, the number of customers running this software has reached 160,000 as of now. The price of FSD, which provides advanced autonomous driving for Tesla cars, is set at $ 15,000.

Tesla will open autonomous driving to global use

Elon Musk states that they are making great efforts to get the system approved in all countries. As a result of all efforts, according to Musk, the FSD Beta will be launched globally by the end of this year. Therefore, we can assume that there will be an increase in the number of users very quickly after the next year. However, Tesla’s Autopilot motion planning technical lead Paril Jain says the FSD has reached the level where it can make “human-like” decisions.

In addition, the training of the FSD is constantly evolving. Because data from Tesla vehicles is constantly processed and used to create the models used by FSD. This data is analyzed on the company’s own supercomputer and training of artificial intelligence is provided. The results are transferred to Tesla vehicles as a software update.

We can say that huge data is being processed to train Tesla’s FSD artificial intelligence. So much so that almost half a million videos are streamed to the system every day. It is reported that 1.44 billion frames have been used for training the software so far, while the entire dataset has reached 4.8 million videos.
