Following the recent leak of in-development screenshots and even the source code of Grand Theft Auto 6, Rockstar Games requested an investigation from the UK’s National Crime Agency, which resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old in London. The teenager, originally from Oxfordshire, was detained on suspicion of hacking and is currently in custody.
The footage was leaked to GTAForums last Sunday and included more than 90 in-game videos of a so-called “test build”. It was known that this attack was carried out by the same group, which also recently gained access to Uber’s systems. The captured teenager is thought to be a member of this group.
Rockstar recently announced that the attack will not affect the development of GTA 6, 1 day after the attack. Leaks have confirmed that there will be a heavily rumored Vice City setting alongside the two main protagonists. Additionally, mechanics from Red Dead Redemption 2 and placeholder assets from GTA 5 were prominent throughout the footage.
