Those who finished the series in a flash began to wait for the second season, but it was not known whether there was any work on this issue. The scriptwriter and director of the drama, Hwang Dong-hyuk, explained the curious things about the drama.

The production process of the series worries the director

Squid Game, which tells the story of those who risk death for the grand prize, attracted a lot of attention around the world with its 9-episode first season published on September 17. The series managed to rank first in 90 countries, including the USA, in a short time. Hundreds of children in financial difficulties receive an invitation to participate in a play in the thriller/drama series. This game, in which the winner will receive a prize of 40 million dollars, will lead to the death of everyone who loses.

The director states that the series reflects the ‘competitive society’ of which we are a part today. He was inspired by the games of his childhood for this story where the winners move forward and the losers stay behind. Thinking about what it would be like to play children’s games as an adult was the basis for the show’s emergence. The ‘squid game’ that gives the drama its name is based on the attackers trying to stop the others as they head towards a squid-shaped area. Director Dong-hyuk said of the play, “It was very physically demanding, and that’s why every time we played it, someone got injured, their clothes were torn or they cried. It’s always the end of the day. it would be a game,” he says.

Hwang Dong-hyuk lost 6 teeth due to the intense stress he went through during the production of the drama. In his statement, he stated that it was very difficult to write and direct such a series alone, and that he was worried about entering the same tempo for the second season. However, that doesn’t mean that the second season won’t be filmed, Dong-hyuk said, “There’s nothing finalized for now, but there are so many enthusiastic people that I’m seriously considering it.”
