Starlink Statement About Iran by Elon Musk

Having transitioned from a monarchy to the Islamic Republic in 1979, Iran has recently gained a place in the world’s agenda with a major social event. In Tehran, the capital of Iran, a woman named Mehsa Emini was arrested by the “guidance patrol” in the city on September 16, 2022, on the grounds that her dress was against Islam, and she was beaten to death.

With this incident, Iranian citizens started protests across the country. In the country, which already has the most censored internet access in the world, there was a big blackout with the effect of the protests. Today, in parallel with the events that developed in Iran, a statement came from Elon Musk.

Elon Musk will seek an exemption from Iran for Starlink:

Announcing that Starlink has started to serve in Antarctica the other day, Elon Musk answered the question of an Iranian citizen under this announcement. Elon Musk said, “I’m sure you won’t answer, Mr. Musk, but is it technically possible to provide Starlink to the Iranian people? It could be a game changer for the future.” He answered the question as follows:

“Starlink will seek exemption from Iran sanctions in this regard.”
