The Ryzen 7000 family, shaped on AMD’s Zen 4 architecture, was already announced with the company’s introduction. AMD will launch four processor models first, and the Ryzen 9 7900X is one of them. The high-end processor was the only product we haven’t seen so far in the Geekbench 5 test, but now we have an idea of its performance on paper.
AMD Ryzen 9 7900X consists of 12 cores and 24 threads. The processor, whose base frequency is announced as 4.7 GHz, will be able to increase its current speed up to 5.6 GHz. Offering a total of 76 MB cache, Ryzen 9 7900X has a TDP of 170W.
Intel accidentally shared its 13th generation Raptor Lake processors
The Ryzen 9 7900X, which appeared in the Geekbench 5 test, was run on the Gigabyte X670E AORUS Master motherboard test system with 32 GB DDR5 memory. Coming to the results of the processor in this test, we see that it scored 2167 points in single-core performance and 18446 points in multi-core performance.
12-core Ryzen 9 7900X beats 16-core Core i9 12900K
To compare the results of the Ryzen 9 7900X, we can look at the data of the Core i9 12900K and Ryzen 9 5900X, which were tested in similar conditions. We can say that the Ryzen 9 7900X almost wipes out its predecessor. Because the new Zen 4 processor is 30 percent ahead of the Ryzen 9 5900X in single-core performance and 33 percent in multi-core performance. On the other hand, the Ryzen 9 7900X seems to be about 15-20 percent faster in multi-core than the Core i9 12900K, and about 10 percent in single-core performance.
Intel’s 13th generation Raptor Lake processors may have a price advantage
We see that Intel’s new 13th generation Core i7 13700K processor surpasses the Ryzen 9 7900X in multi-core performance, but lags behind in single-core performance. On the other hand, AMD has set the price of the Ryzen 9 7900X at $ 549, which is a high price. Because the Core i7 12700K, which is already available, is on sale for $ 409. The Core i7 13700K’s price is less than $500, even if Intel makes a price increase of about 20 percent in this generation. Also, the F version of the Core i7 13700K will be even more affordable. Therefore, we can see that the price advantage goes to Intel’s 13th generation Raptor Lake family.
