Squid Game opens to the world
Dong-Hyuk, who confronted the press after the South Korean-made drama broke a record and won 6 Emmy awards, started his speech by saying that DiCaprio has stated many times that he is also a big fan of the series. Afterwards, he stated that they were considering making an offer to the famous player to participate in the games if there was no time problem and if they had a chance. The director even added that they joked about this with the famous actor.
Dong-Hyuk also announced that he does not plan to use Hollywood actors in the second season and that the drama will once again take place in Korea, adding that this situation will “probably change” if they get approval for the third season. He underlined that many names in Hollywood also expressed their love for the series.
After the success of Squid Game, Netflix decided to increase the budget for the second season. Meanwhile, the director working on the series stated that he had decided which games would take place in the new season, and asked members of the press not to explain what the games were, even if they found out. He also added that the success of the first season increased the pressure for the second season, but he saw this situation as a source of motivation.
