The feature drew attention with its similarity to BeReal, which asks users to take and share photos from the front and rear camera at any time of the day with the notifications sent every day. As we mentioned before, BeReal aimed to share snapshots that aimed to make people look the way they are, unlike other platforms.
TikTok has also integrated a similar feature into its platform. About this, the company said, “TikTok Now invites you and your friends to capture what you and your friends are doing at the moment using the front and rear camera. Every day, you will receive notifications asking you to share a 10-second video or a photo, and you will be able to easily share what you are doing.
In the images shared by the company, it is seen that TikTok Now sends notifications to users like BeReal. In these notifications, people are asked to share posts within the specified time. These images, which will include instant photos and videos, are taken with both the rear and front cameras. It can also be seen in the promotional images that the feature takes its place under the name ‘Now’ on the bar at the bottom of the platform. It is also noteworthy that there is no location sharing in TikTok’ Now. If you don’t turn off your location on BeReal, your location can be shared with other people, which may raise some privacy concerns.
TikTok stated that the new feature is currently only available to users in the United States. It has not yet been announced when the feature will come to other countries, but the company stated that TikTok Now may be available as a separate application in different regions.
