Apple introduced the iPhone 14 series at its event on September 7, 2022. Pro models debuted with new 48-megapixel cameras for the first time in iPhone history. However, this innovation seems funny to rival smartphone manufacturers.

Progress on camera was ridiculed

Samsung shared a post on its official Twitter account with an image of its latest flagship smartphone. The remarkable point was the message given. On the screen, it was written that the company had a 108 megapixel phone for 2 years, 6 months and 4 days.

The shared image highlights that the camera on the iPhone 14 Pro has only been upgraded to 48 megapixels, while Samsung has offered a 108 megapixel camera for two and a half years (since the Galaxy S20 Ultra was launched). Of course, megapixel count isn’t everything.

Android smartphones have been offered with 48 and even 108 megapixel cameras for some time now. But in practice the situation is different. It is wrong to bind photo quality only to the number of megapixels. The image processing algorithm on the device is just as important as it is.
