Have Apple Watch users ever looked at the screen of their watch and said, “I wish I could play the classic game of 1996, Quake, on this screen”? Even if they didn’t say so, now it’s possible for them to do so!

Programmer Tomas “MyOwnClone” Vymazal was able to install and run the Quake app on his watch. Vymazal states that the currently available Mac/iOS versions of the game are very helpful, and the watch can comfortably use the gyroscope and crown inside the game’s almost 30-year-old engine.

Of course, quite a few changes have been made to it. A series of clever codes had to be written just to be able to hear the sounds of the game through the tiny speaker of the watch.

So is the game really playable on the Apple Watch? Technically yes, but not so easy in practice. You can watch how the game is played on the watch from the video below.

If you have an Apple Watch and want to play the game on your watch, you can try it by downloading the source code from GitHub.
