Instagram, owned by Meta, continues to come up with the updates and new features it brings to the platform. Discovered by Alessandro Paluzzi in the past months, the Instagram repost feature has become official today. Instagram, which is thought to be working on the re-sharing feature for several months, stated that this feature will soon enter the testing phase, although it does not make a clear statement on the subject.

It turned out that Instagram will soon start testing the ability to re-share someone else’s post on Facebook and Twitter on its own account. The feature, brought up by social media consultant Matt Navarra, was spotted on Twitter CEO Adam Mosseri’s Instagram account.

An authoritative feature from Meta announced it will begin testing

Instagram users had to use third-party and not-so-reliable apps to re-share another user’s post on their own profile. This issue is now gone and users will be able to share other people’s regular posts on their profiles, just like they were recently on Stories.

A Meta spokesperson told TechCrunch that they will begin testing the ability to reshare posts in Feed, just like they do in Stories. The company’s spokesperson added that the test will be opened to certain users shortly.

As with all other testing features, it is unknown when or if Instagram plans to roll out the repost feature to all users. We’ll learn more about the feature as it enters the testing phase shortly.
