The popular streaming platform Twitch has reportedly suffered a major security breach. This news comes from VGC, which says a user found a 125GB torrent link containing Amazon’s Twitch data on the 4chan forums. The torrent is apparently publicly downloadable and contains the source code for the Twitch software, user passwords, and financial deals the company has made with popular streamers.
VGC says an internal Twitch source has validated the data leaked in the attack. The data was apparently leaked on Monday. The person who posted the torrent link on 4chan claims that the attack was “to further disrupt the online video streaming space and encourage competition.”
While reports claim that the leak only contained encrypted passwords, to be on the safe side, it’s a good idea to change your Twitch password as soon as possible and turn on two-factor authentication.
Twitch, on the other hand, has not yet made an official statement on the subject. . .
