What is the latest situation in the market?
As we reported on Kriptokoin.com, Bitcoin lost the coveted $20,000 streak at the end of last month. Since then, the asset has been relatively quiet with a few unsuccessful attempts to reclaim that level. The latest such example came yesterday as BTC rallied to a daily high of $20,300. But there it failed and quickly turned to gold. The situation has worsened over the past 18 hours, when the cryptocurrency has slumped above $1,000. As a result, it dropped to a six-week low of just over $18,500 an hour ago. Despite adding a few hundred dollars since then, the asset is still struggling below $19,000. As such, its market cap drops to $360 billion, while its dominance over altcoins stands at 38.2 percent.
Most altcoins were in good shape yesterday as the hype around the Merge and Bellatrix upgrade pushed the second-largest crypto to multi-day highs. Especially those who have any connection to Ethereum. However, the landscape with altcoins has changed quite a bit in the last 24 hours. ETH is currently among the top losers with a daily drop of 9 percent. As a result, the asset is struggling to stay above $1,500. Ethereum Classic, which made another big gain yesterday, dropped over 16 percent to $34 on a 24-hour scale. Binance Coin, Ripple, Cardano, Solana, Polkadot, Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, and MATIC are also now trading deep in the red, with daily losses of up to 10 percent.
