AMD continues to make big promises for the new RDNA 3 GPU design. According to the reports by the company, with the Radeon RX 7000 series, AMD expects to achieve a massive performance gain.
The RDNA 2 architecture, which is currently produced in the 7nm process, will be replaced by the 5nm RDNA 3 architecture with the Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards. The new RDNA 3 architecture will deliver more than 50 percent performance gains per watt. In other words, it is stated that greater performance gains are possible at 50 percent performance or higher energy consumption at the same energy consumption.

Along with the RDNA 3 architecture, AMD will switch to TSMC’s 5nm lithography. Beyond that, AMD will shape its next-generation flagships with the chiplet design, which is expressed as an “advanced chip package”, instead of shaping it with a monolithic GPU design. This offers gains both in terms of performance gains and the cost of the GPU. While the success of Ryzen processors, for which AMD uses a similar solution, is evident, it would be wrong to expect the company not to bring it to graphics cards.

AMD will also offer completely redesigned compute units and optimized buses with RDNA 3. Therefore, it would not be wrong to expect an increase in the number of instructions per cycle (IPC). On the other hand, a complete overhaul of the computation unit could potentially provide increases in ray tracing performance as well. Along with the RDNA 3 architecture, AMD will also double the Infinity Cache technology.
AMD will begin releasing Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards in the fall. A clear date or price information has not been officially shared yet. However, we can say that the models that will enter the market will be the most powerful cards of the series first.
