The fact that the person who participated in an art competition with an image created by artificial intelligence won the competition did not please some people.

Titled Théâtre D’opéra Spatial, the image resembles an impressive painting of an abstract audience in the background, with an opera stage with performers on stage and an intriguing large window resembling the moon. This image was created by Jason Allen, who went through hundreds of iterations of written descriptions fed into the text-to-image generator Midjourey before the software created the image it wanted.

He won first prize and $300 after submitting a printed version of the painting to the Colorado State Fair’s fine arts competition. Its success, however, drew attention and divided opinions.

“I knew this was going to be controversial,” Allen said on Tuesday’s Midjourney Discord. Does it sound like?”

Washington Post tech reporter Drew Harwell, who covered this debate, made an interesting point: “People once thought photography was a gimmick as well – it was all it took to push a button – and now we understand that the best creations rely on skilled composition, judgment and tone. One day artificial intelligence Do we look at his art the same way?”

While discussions about the outcome of this competition continue, many artificial intelligences, including DeepMind, continue to be trained and studied in many different areas, from playing football to writing stories, from learning the language of animals to solving everyday problems. In other words, it seems that we should accept that artificial intelligence has an important place in our lives, one way or another.
