Scientists are working on artificial intelligence that can read human thoughts and translate them into speech with great accuracy. The system that decodes brain activity is being developed by Meta, under the umbrella of Facebook.

According to the blog post by Meta, the thought analysis accuracy has now reached 73%. New artificial intelligence technology will be able to capture and reproduce words and phrases that people are thinking about.
Deciphering speech from brain activity has been a long-standing goal of neuroscientists and clinicians, but most advances in this field rely on invasive brain recording techniques such as stereotactic electroencephalography and electrocorticography. Such techniques provide clearer signals than noninvasive methods but require neurosurgical interventions.
It can give people different abilities
Meta applies a non-invasive artificial intelligence machine learning method in its development. Researchers specifically use electroencephalography (EEG) and magnetoencephalography (MEG) with external sensors. In the learning process, the AI records how participants’ brains respond to certain slogans, phrases, or long texts. The system then highlights words for which the response is particularly strong and compiles a ‘dictionary’ of them.
The system has so far managed to analyze about 800 of the most common words. In the future, it is expected that artificial intelligence will more accurately identify words and phrases, which will improve the abilities of humans and literally give them a kind of telepathy ability.
