Cars are subjected to various crash tests and the results of these tests are shared so that car buyers can make a healthier decision. One of these tests was done by the Swiss branch of the famous insurance company AXA on a Tesla Model S.

In the video, a Tesla Model S crashes into a hub called an island at roundabouts and takes off. Then the vehicle that rolls over, then it catches fire in a funny way. Making a statement about the video that was discussed on social media, AXA Switzerland announced that the vehicle did not really catch fire.

The aim is to draw attention to possible dangers.

AXA actually performs very successful crash tests, but the Tesla Model S test stands out as a rather irrelevant and flawed test. Of course, a Tesla Model S can also crash into an island or flip over. The problem with the video is that it’s deliberately exaggerated.

First of all, there is no battery in the vehicle in this video. One of the heaviest parts of the Tesla Model S is its battery. Although electric vehicles can also roll over, these vehicles are more difficult to roll over than vehicles with conventional internal combustion engines. Because the battery in the middle and below of these vehicles pulls the center of gravity much lower, making it difficult to do somersaults.

Another problem is that the vehicle suddenly catches fire. According to AXA Switzerland’s apology statement, these flames were started in a controlled manner, and it was stated that there would not be enough sparks for the vehicle to ignite in the accident in the video.

In fact, AXA Switzerland states in its own research that electric cars are as safe as vehicles using internal combustion engines, but such a study was undertaken to draw attention to possible dangers. On the other hand, such a non-standard and forced test video seems to backfire.

Of course, electric vehicles also carry some risks. In case of a leak in the battery, it may not be possible to extinguish the fire that will occur. Still, no vehicle type offers more risky driving than the other.
