Google announced that the search engine will not support Internet Explorer 11 and has made Google Search the last product that does not support Microsoft’s old browser.
First released with Windows 8.1 in 2013, Internet Explorer 11 was ported back to Windows 7 as many Windows users did not feel the need to update the operating system at that time. But just 3 years later, with the release of Windows 10 in 2015, Internet Explorer was replaced by Microsoft Edge.
However, since Edge was not available in older versions of Windows, Internet Explorer 11 remained the default browser in Windows 7, 8, and 8.1. As a result, although Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and other third-party browsers offer an improved browsing experience, it still managed to retain its browser market share.
After ending support for Docs, Sheets, Slides, and other Google Workspace apps in March this year, Google is finally ending support for Google Search for Internet Explorer 11.
